The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel became part of the Regional Support and Protection Network for Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings.

Given the centrality of the county, among the most important urban centers, «and the commitment that has been made to expand responses at the social level, namely with partnerships to support victims, this membership complements the strategy outlined by the Social Charter of São Brás of Alportel», says the City Council.

Created with the aim of providing an intervention response in a network that integrates the components of combating Trafficking in Human Beings (TSH) and specialized and multidisciplinary support to its victims, within the regional territory, this network «represents an important effort by region, aware of a phenomenon that is unfortunately very current and more present than would be desirable».

The work carried out by the network is directly articulated with the National Network for Support and Protection of Victims of Trafficking and adopts the existing instruments for signaling and referring victims.

The Association for Family Planning (APF), the Association for the Protection of Girls and the Family, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira, the GNR, the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), the Portuguese Association for Victim Support ( APAV), the Olhão and Tavira delegations of the Portuguese Red Cross, the University of Algarve, the Group for Aid to Drug Addicts, the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, the Irene Rolo Foundation and the Municipalities of Vila do Bispo and São Brás de Alportel they are also part of this cooperation protocol that created the network in September 2016.

The work of the Regional Support and Protection Network for Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings also involves supporting the assisted return of foreign victims to their countries of origin and informing THB victims of their rights and duties while in Portugal.
