The PS majority in the Portimão Chamber rejected the proposal for a deliberation presented by the social-democratic councilor Manuel Valente, for the “Review of transport information on the shuttle network”, denounced the PSD from Portimão, in a statement.
Socialists also rejected the motion “Public Transport – All Portimonenses are equal”, presented by the PSD at the Parish Assembly of Portimão, add the Social Democrats.
The PSD mayors announce their "natural astonishment at the unequivocal" lack of will of the PS "so that measures are immediately implemented to correct the deficiencies detected in the municipality's urban transport network" and which, they stress, "mainly penalize the populations from Ladeira do Vau, Malheiro, Companheira, Chão das Donas, Sesmarias, Pedra Mourinha, Quinta das Oliveiras, Aldeia das Sobreiras, Bemposta, Porto de Lagos and Rasmalho»
The proposal for “Review of transport information on the “Vai e Vem” network – Schedules and Network Diagram” was presented at the Chamber meeting on December 19, but was rejected with three votes against by the PS and the abstention of the councilor from Left Block. There were only two votes in favour, from the PSD and CDS councilors.
That proposal, according to the PSD/Portimão, aimed to “improve the information system of the “Vai e Vem” service for the general benefit of all people from Portimão and increase the quality of the public service provided by this circuit of urban transport”.
Also in the Parish Assembly of Portimão, the majority led by the PS «disapproved the motion presented by the PSD mayors, called Public Transport – All Portimonenses are equal, as this proposal is not limited to denouncing the problems, but also what it seems natural, for the sake of the constructive democracy defended by the PSD, to request the adoption of immediate measures to put an end to the deficiencies detected in the public transport network “Vai e Vem”», denounce the social democrats.
The PSD/Portimão comments that, although the socialist mayors, by the arguments used, "recognise the problem", "at the time of decision" they take refuge "in any merely theoretical solution - not yet found - instead of supporting and enabling immediate proposals , concrete and supra-partisan” that the Social Democrats presented both in the Chamber and in the Parish Assembly of Portimão.
But the PSD from Portimão promises not to lower its arms and announces that it will present, in the next Municipal Assembly of Portimão, on December 27th, "new motion on this topic and in defense of the superior interests of the population of Portimão".
