The PCP wants the Government to reveal the results of the analyzes that were carried out in the Vascão river, following the a complaint made in November by Cumeadas – Association of Forest Owners of Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana, from Alcoutim, who believes that the death of some animals of goat farmers in the Northeast of Algarve could be linked to the contamination of the waters of this stream.

After the alert, technicians from the Portuguese Environment Agency went to the site and collected water samples from the Vascão stream, after meeting with the association.

"However, the results of the analysis of these samples have not yet been publicly disclosed, with the suspicion being maintained among goat farmers and farmers in the area that the unusual mortality of farm animals that graze in the area surrounding the Vascão stream may be linked to a contamination of the waters of this stream», according to the PCP.

This led Paulo Sá, PCP deputy to the Assembly of the Republic elected by the Algarve, to ask the Government if the analyzes had already been carried out and what the results were, namely if the suspicion of contamination of the river's waters is confirmed.

“If so, has the Portuguese Environment Agency identified the causes of this contamination? What measures have already been or will be taken to eliminate the sources of contamination?”, they also asked the communists.
