Pine Cliffs Resort, located in Albufeira, was elected the Best Luxury Leisure Resort in the World at the World Travel Awards 2017, the Tourism Oscars, whose ceremony took place this Sunday, 10 December.
«I could only be proud of Pine Cliffs' distinction as the World's Best Luxury Leisure Resort, whose excellence – as well as the rest of the Algarve's hotels – plays a very important role in making the region stand out on the map of the best tourist destinations internationally» , says Desidério Silva, president of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA).
This international distinction joins the award for Best Beach Destination in Europe won by the Algarve last September.
After the winners of the 2017 world edition of the Tourism Oscars have been revealed, all attention is focused on Portugal, which received the unique distinction of Best Tourist Destination in the World.
«It is with great satisfaction that I learned about the results of this edition of the World Travel Awards. Portugal was elected the Best Tourist Destination in the World, an international recognition of the work developed by all the Tourism Regions in Portugal, by Municipalities, tour operators and agents and by the Secretary of State for Tourism. We are all to be congratulated for being part of this project to enhance tourism and cultural heritage in Portugal», says Desidério Silva.
Since 1993, the World Travel Awards have been distinguishing organizations that provide excellent services in the tourism industry, worldwide, in order to stimulate the sector's competitiveness and quality. The selection of nominees is carried out worldwide by thousands of professionals, who each year choose their favorites.
