The works on Avenida Cidade de Hayward, in Faro, will be completed by the end of the year. The redevelopment work on this artery, which is one of the entrances to the Algarve capital, began on 6 November, with a completion deadline of 60 days, but should finish a few days earlier.

Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, in an interview with Sul Informação, he added that "the expectation is that this work will be completed by December 31."

According to the mayor, the work on this artery is focused on "renovating sidewalks and the road surface, as well as the existing afforestation".

The ongoing works have caused embarrassment to motorists entering or leaving the city through the eastern entrance, since the four lanes that normally connect the roundabout to the Motoclube de Faro and the Hospital roundabout became just two, one in each direction, causing queues.

Source of the Chamber of Faro he informed our newspaper that the repaving work in the two lanes on the right side, in the Olhão-Faro, which were closed to traffic, took longer due to the existence of sanitation pipelines.

The repaving of the avenue, in the opposite direction, which starts this Wednesday, will force the restriction of traffic for a shorter period.

Entering 2018 with the two entrances to the city rehabilitated, after the work on Avenida Dr. Gordinho Moreira (next to the Forum), which took place during the summer, is the executive's objective. “We want to have the work completed in time for New Year's Eve”, concludes the same source.

The repaving of Avenida Cidade de Hayward was awarded for 178 thousand euros (+IVA). there are 96 social housing apartments on Rua Monsenhor Henrique Ferreira da Silva.
