Tchaikovsky's best-known classic, “The Swan Lake”, is presented at the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, in a contemporary version signed by the choreographer Daniel Cardoso, from Quorum Ballet, and with live interpretation by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, directed by the principal conductor Rui Pinheiro. The show will take place on December 1st and 2nd, Friday and Saturday, at 21 pm.

The original story signed by Russian composer Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky, about a spell cast on a group of maidens who, in daylight, were transformed into swans, now gives way to a new version adapted to the present time.

Daniel Cardoso, choreographer and artistic director of the dance company Quorum Ballet, describes a fable centered on an abandoned asylum, only filled with bizarre beings. Creating a balance between fiction and reality, the adaptation of “Swan Lake” seeks to explore the defects, impulses and virtues most characteristic of the human being.

This narration, which puts Man and his frailties “in the raw”, will be presented at Teatro das Figuras in December, accompanied by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, which will occupy the orchestra pit, directed by Rui Pinheiro .

“Tchaikovsky's music occupies a very special place in my musical predilection. In addition to the six Symphonies and the concertos for Piano and Violin, the three ballets he wrote – “Sleeping Beauty”, “Nutcracker” and “Lago dos Swans” – are, for me, the most beautiful pages of music ever written !”, said conductor Rui Pinheiro.

“It is always challenging and extremely stimulating to be able to bring one of these masterpieces to the scene, especially when the proposal is to give a contemporary vision of the fantastic history of “Lake of the Swans”! To the challenge launched by choreographer Daniel Cardoso and Quorum Ballet, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul promptly responded, thus gathering the ingredients for a complete show that will certainly surprise and please the public,” he added.

The show goes on stage at Teatro das Figuras on December 1st and 2nd, at 21 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Theater ticket office, at FNAC, Worten, CTT, El Corte Inglés stores and also online through the link: https://teatrodasfiguras.bol.pt.
