The PSD says that the Algarve will receive less than 2% of the total amount of the Culture Program, from the State Budget for 2018.

José Carlos Barros, deputy elected by the PSD, questioned Luís Castro Mendes, minister of Culture, about the funds allocated for the region, saying that "the options of the State Budget reflect an unacceptable downgrading of the region in terms of cultural policy."

According to data released by the PSD, the global amount of this program, which is regionally distributed, is around 36 million euros, with around 391 euros to be earmarked for the Algarve.

The North, for example, receives around 6 million euros.

According to the Social Democrats, «the funds from the non-regionalised component» are «directly associated with the financing of the Regional Directorates of Culture, assuming particular importance in terms of their capacity to intervene and act at a regional level».
