The show «Puppets & Campaniça», which brings together the puppet theater of Companhia Trulé and the music of the campaniça viola, will be presented on November 8, at 10:30 am, in the Auditorium of the Fortaleza de Sagres, in an initiative aimed at children from schools in the municipality of Vila do Bispo.
In this project promoted by Tertúlia – Associação Cultural Sócio – Cultural de Aljezur, puppeteer Manuel Dias and musician António Bexiga give life to two hands full of puppets and tell their stories, without words, to the sound of the campaniça guitar.
Manuel Dias has been a puppeteer, builder and researcher of animated forms for over 30 years. His life is mixed with the puppets he creates and recreates in such a particular, unique, honest and intense way.
This dedication brought him many trips around the world and recognition of his work with several international awards.
António Bexiga is an Alentejo musician and creator, who approaches tradition with nostalgia for the future.
His passion for the campaniça guitar led him to place this instrument in various musical contexts, on a journey that lives on a permanent restlessness, in the search for the “sound you haven't heard yet”.
Together, Manuel Dias and António Bexiga «tell words without words, of dolls that could be us – the dolls' stories are very similar to ours, they too walk a fragile line between the strong and the weak, love and longing, irony and daily life”, explains the Regional Directorate of Culture.
Sometimes the puppets dialogue with the guitar, sometimes it makes them the soundtrack. Others still seem to get confused and it's not clear who's who.
This activity also counts on the collaboration of the Municipality of Vila do Bispo, being a show integrated in the cycle “DiVaM for the + and – little ones”, of the DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments program, organized by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
