The Millennium bcp Foundation and the Church of São Pedro de Faro This Saturday, November 4th, at 17 pm, they will sign a collaboration protocol for the conservation and restoration of the canvas that frames the altar of Nossa Senhora da Vitória, in that church in the Algarve capital.

This painted canvas, called “Boca de Cena”, which frames the altar, is considered an Integrated Heritage of the Monument of Public Interest which is the Church of São Pedro itself, reveals the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

The work is "in a poor state of conservation", and therefore "it makes it impossible to enjoy the set with the Altar of Nossa Senhora da Vitória, a mark of the Rococo style in Faro».

The conservation and restoration intervention will allow for the improvement of this chapel.

"The intervention will be based on the authenticity and integrity of the set and will allow greater enjoyment of the aesthetics of the set," while maintaining "its function of religious worship," adds the Regional Director.

In the Algarve, in terms of conservation and restoration of heritage, the Millennium bcp Foundation already sponsors a large part of the expense of the restoration work on the albarra tower of the Castle of Paderne, currently underway.
