A Spanish man, who kidnapped three minor children, was arrested this Wednesday, 22 November, by the PSP, in Vila Real de Santo António.

This suspect was already wanted (he had a European arrest warrant) and was referred to situations of domestic violence and other crimes in Spain.

According to the PSP, in a statement, it was in a "routine mission to commercial areas", that the police detected a car, with the three children inside, and with characteristics "in all identical" to those that the fugitive was using.

So, “a discreet surveillance was mounted on the vehicle” until an adult got into the car. At that moment, the suspect was intercepted and confirmed, "immediately, his identity, as well as that of the three minors".

As the wanted citizen, he was then taken to the police department of VRSA, as well as the children.

The man was carrying, in his car, four firearms, one of which was a war caliber (9mm), dozens of ammunition of various calibers, a dagger, several pieces of gold, around 247 euros, and several documents in the name of others people, such as your wife's identification document.

As for the three minors, they were transported to the University Hospital Center of the Algarve (CHUA), always accompanied by technicians from the Commission for the Protection of VRSA Minors.

The health status of the minors “was good and did not inspire any care”. So, in the early evening, the children were handed over to an institution.

The detainee will be heard at the Court of Appeal in Évora.
