The Algarve Organ Festival will arrive at the Igreja Matriz in Boliqueime on Friday, the 17th of November, at 21 pm. The first concert that this town in the municipality of Loulé will host, in the 30 edition of the festival, will have as protagonists Daniel Oliveira (organ) and Alexêi Tolpygo (baroque violin).

On the same day and at the same time, organist André Ferreira performs at Igreja da Misericórdia, in Tavira. On Saturday, the 18th, Daniel Oliveira and Alexêi Tolpygo will perform together again, this time at Igreja do Carmo, in Faro, at 21:3 pm. All concerts at the Algarve Organ Festival are free.

At the concert that will take place in Boliqueime, Daniel Oliveira, head organist of the Igreja Matriz in Oeiras and Igreja da Misericórdia, in Torres Vedras, and the Russian violinist Alexêi Tolpygo, based in Portugal since 1993, will present «predominantly Italian works and in form of sonatas, adapted to this instrumental duo», according to Associação Música XXI, which organizes the event.

This will be the first of two festival shows that will take place in this church. On the 24th of November, the protagonist is André Ferreira, who will present a program entitled “The song of the birds”.

In Tavira, on Friday, the same organist will present a “contrasting” concert program, which will address “The Sacred and the Profane in Italian Baroque”.

In this edition of the Algarve Organ Festival, which began on the 3rd of November, in Portimão, it will be possible to see two more concerts.

On November 24, the organ of the Church of Santiago will echo in the hands of the Brazilian organist Elisa Freixo, who will present works by lesser-known composers.

The same artist will close the festival on November 25th, at Sé de Faro. And everything indicates that Elisa Freixo will feel at home in this second concert, as she is responsible for the series of concerts in the historic organ installed in the Cathedral of Mariana, «an instrument that is considered the twin of the organ in the Cathedral of Faro», according to the organizers of the event.

The 2017 Algarve Organ Festival is organized by Associação Cultural Música XXI. It has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Tavira and Portimão, with support for the dissemination of the Algarve Tourism Region and with communication partners Antena 2, Sul Informação and FM Street.
