The Chamber of Castro Marim will support the Junqueira Farmers' Council with 10 thousand euros, so that this association can ensure the cleaning and unblocking of the Ribeira da Caroucha, located in the village of Junqueira.
Based on the protocol signed between the local authority and the Agricultural Council, this association "is cleaning and shredding green and woody materials in the riverbed and banks, as well as carrying out regularization work on the bottom and slopes".
As explained by the Chamber of Castro Marim, the Junqueira Agricultural Council "has the objective of administering, exploring and conserving the work to improve traditional irrigation systems in the Ribeira da Caroucha."
The Chamber adds that "with this initiative, it is also intended to encourage the population to pay attention, seeking to keep water courses cleaner and clearer, promoting care in the disposal of solid waste and the selective removal of fallen and infesting trees, such as brambles, which hinder the flow of water'.
