Best golf course in Portugal for “Quinta do Lago – Sul” and best golf hotel in the country for “Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa” were the awards collected by the Algarve in the “World Oscars” of golf Golf Awards”, whose awards gala took place this weekend in Spain.
Golf is a strategic tourist product for the Algarve, a destination that has been awarded internationally over the years and which, in 2016, motivated close to 1,3 million rounds of golf, 10,5% more than in the previous year.
Its 40 courses and its hotel offer make the Algarve region a privileged destination for practitioners of the sport from all over the world.
«It is with satisfaction that we see, once again, the country being awarded as the best golf destination in Europe and the world and the Algarve being recognized for its excellent conditions for the practice of this sport», says Desidério Silva, president of the Tourism Region of the Algarve.
«In addition to an integrated tourist experience, the unique hospitality of the Algarve and the mild climate throughout the year, the region also has the best golf course and the best golf hotel in Portugal», he adds.
The “World Golf Awards” are voted by golf industry professionals from over 100 countries and are part of the “World Travel Awards”.
