The Regulatory Authority for Water and Waste Services (ERSAR) awarded, for the first time, the municipal company FAGAR, the Exemplary Quality Seal of water for human consumption. The award ceremony took place on November 8, at a ceremony held in Lisbon.

This «is the first time that the Municipality of Faro is distinguished by the excellent quality of its water», stresses the municipality of the Algarve capital.

The award distinguishes entities that, during the year 2016, «exemplifyingly complied with the legal requirements for the control of water quality». FAGAR achieved 100% compliance with the values collected through water quality analyses, the results of which are verified by an independent laboratory.

For Paulo Gouveia da Costa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FAGAR, «the award of this distinction, for the first time, is on the one hand the recognition of the technical competence of the company's workers, but also, on the other hand, the result of planning correct and rigorous, traced over the last 4 years, and which gradually began to translate into positive results».

For his part, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the City Council of Faro, stresses that «this distinction greatly honors the Municipality of Faro, but it is above all a guarantee for the population of Faro of the quality of our water. Rogério Bacalhau also added that “this award now confers greater responsibility on FAGAR, EM, in the sense of seeking to maintain the levels of water quality that it has been achieving and that give us so much confidence”.
