Jazz, both with "national renown" artists and Algarve musicians, to be enjoyed while drinking a (good) wine. This is “Um Glass of Jazz” to be served from this Sunday, October 8th, at 18 pm, at Club Farense, in the middle of Rua de Santo António, in Faro.

This is because the initiative wants to bring together the best of both worlds, with wines preferably from the Algarve. For tomorrow, the musical proposal goes by André Murraças, on saxophone, and Guilherme Melo, on drums, in what is the first edition of the “Zé Eduardo invites” section.

The musician is the artistic director of “Um Copo de Jazz” and confessed to Sul Informação being “very happy” to be part of the event. «This direction of Club Farense is very active, fortunately for the city. I have a right know-how and together we make a good team», he added.

Thus, on the second and last Sundays of each month – from October to May – there will always be “A Glass of Jazz”, at 18:00. «This is a way of, in Faro, to have a differentiating offer in a noble space», considered Augusto Miranda, president of Club Farense, in an interview with our newspaper.

"Two years ago we signed a protocol with the Ginásio de Tavira and the Museum of São Brás de Alportel, where we had jazz on the second Sunday, but we found that this did not bring great advantages, nor did it help the essential idea of bringing artists here" , says the person in charge.

Thus, Club Farense decided to make an initiative of its own, creating “A Glass of Jazz”. Other concerts to be held are, for example, on the 22nd of October the “Cool Manouche”, a manouche and gypsy jazz group, or the “Meersalz”, on the 12th of November.

For the 26th of November the concert by João Coelho (piano) and João Sousa (drums) is reserved, accompanied by Zé Eduardo.

On December 10th, the performance of one of the first great names is scheduled: Mário Delgado, with whom Zé Eduardo has already played «for almost 20 years».

And if it is true that the initiative will last until May, during the low season, for now only the schedule until December is known.

Until the end of the event, the expectation is to have «always a composed room». «We want this jazz glass to change and we can buy more bottles», said, between laughs, Augusto Miranda.

Musician Zé Eduardo has the same opinion: «I suppose it will be a success, since it combines the useful with the pleasant».

In other words: wine to music. Admission to each concert will be paid, with tickets costing 7 or 8 euros. To consult the complete program click here
