Social Democrat Francisco Amaral was reelected mayor of Castro Marim, but ended up losing a councilor to his greatest rival, former mayor and former PSD José Estevens, who managed to get a seat.

Thus, the PSD/CDS reached 37,13% of the votes and only two places in the council, while the PS, which even dropped in terms of percentage, obtained 36,31% and the same two councilors it already had.

The novelty is now the election of José Estevens as councilor, at the head of the movement «Castro Marim Primeira». The former president of that municipality, previously elected by the PSD, has now obtained 21,08% of the votes and a seat in the council.

The truth is that, with these results, despite having obtained a little more than 1% above the PS, it is not known whether Francisco Amaral will be able or not to continue as mayor of Castro Marim, since he is dependent on either Estevens, want from the PS. And to the socialists, for Célia Brito to be at the head of this autarchy, all you have to do is ally with Estevens...

Finally, the CDU got 2,37% of the vote. Abstention was 32,41%.
