The XIX Music Meeting of Loulé “Francisco Rosado” takes place, until 22 October, in various ecclesiastical and cultural spaces in that municipality, bringing to the Algarve «prestigious formations and soloists» from Spain, Italy and Belgium.

These are, of course, joined by Portuguese formations and soloists. All will “provide the public with a musical journey from the Middle Ages to the end of the XNUMXth century”, says Câmara de Loulé.

"The rigorous selection of groups specialized in historically informed interpretation is one of the bets of this program", he adds.

This edition kicked off last Saturday, September 30, at the Igreja Matriz in Loulé, with a Portuguese group specializing in orchestral music from the Baroque period, where the public had the opportunity to hear «two of JS Bach's ecstatic Brandenburg concerts, brought to Loulé by Iberian Concerto Orquestra Barroca», adds the Loulé local authority.

Next Saturday, October 7th, the Church of S. Sebastião, in Boliqueime, receives the Italian group Collegium Pro Musica. Recalling the 250th anniversary of GP Telemann's death on 25 June this year, the Encontro de Música Antiga in Loulé will mark this date with a tribute brought by this group, which will perform a program entirely dedicated to the composer.

«The beauty and the art of the word will be the protagonists of the concert with the Spanish group Alternative History which, on October 14th, in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Querença, will bring a diversified program of new and old songs in the style of the century XVII, whose main inspiration are the words of Shakespeare: “Past loves – inspiration in Shakespeare”».

The Belgian flute quartet Flanders Recorder Quartet, «whose success of their presence at the Meeting in 2005 is still very much in everyone's memory», brings, in this edition, a work of 30 years coming to an end – “The Final Chapter” . The concert is scheduled for the 15th of October, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Quarteira.

At the emblematic Igreja de S. Lourenço, in Almancil, on 21 October, “the group Affetti D'Amore will delight classical music lovers with an entirely Portuguese interpretation of the best of XNUMXth century vocal music accompanied by the viola da gamba, lute and theorba», says the Loulé autarchy.

Portugal will also be represented on the harpsichord by Mafalda Nejmeddine, in a concert entirely dedicated to Portuguese music from the 22th century. It is on the XNUMXnd of October, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Alte.

Closing this year's Meeting, on October 28, at the Igreja de S. Sebastião, in Salir, will be the Ensemble de Flautas de Loulé/Conservatório de Música, this time accompanied by the Consort de Flautas do Bonfim in a diversified program of new music and old for groupings of flutes.

All concerts start at 21 pm and are free to enter.

The public will also have the opportunity to attend two lectures. One of them about the baroque violin, by Lorenzo Collito, was performed last Saturday, and another about the harpsichord, instruments of great impact in ancient music, with the participation of Mafalda Nejmeddine, on 22 October, in the multipurpose room of the Municipal Museum of Loulé (from 15:00 pm to 17:00 pm).

There will also be a flute masterclass, conducted by all members of the Flanders Recorder Quartet, on October 15, from 14 pm to 00 pm.

An initiative promoted by Professor Francisco Rosado, the Loulé Ancient Music Meeting has been held since 1999.

«To reinforce the diversity of the county's cultural offer, taking into account the various audiences, not only Portuguese but also resident foreigners or those on holiday, of various ages and levels of education, also promoting the geographical decentralization of the places where the events are held. events are the main objectives of this initiative», concludes the municipality.
