“Música nas Igrejas” returns this Saturday, October 7th, to Tavira. The first suggestion of the season is a piano concert by Gilda Oswaldo Cruz, to take place at Igreja da Misericórdia, at 18 pm.
The concert opens with the piece “Seis Bagatelas op. 126”, by Ludwig van Beethoven, followed by “Suite Nojiriko” (Suite of seven pieces for piano based on haikus by Issa and Mabesoone), by Renaud Gagneux.
The show continues with several works by Fréderic Chopin, namely “Polonaise op. 26 nº 2”, two nocturnals – Op.9 nº 1 and Op.62 nº 2 – and three mazurkas – op. 50. The line-up ends with “Batucada”, by Francisco Mignone.
The “Música nas Igrejas” is an initiative of the Câmara de Tavira that “aimed at boosting the built heritage, as well as promoting a taste for music”. The concerts take place every Saturday and are aimed at the general public.
