The 1st round of the Algarve Championship, in “Formula Windsurf” and “Vela Laser 4.7”, and the 1st round of regional clearance in the South, in “Vela – Optimist”, took place this weekend, from 21st to 22nd October, in the bay of Lagos. 

In the “Formula Windsurf” class, Clube Naval de Portimão dominated the race, placing four athletes in the first four places: Miguel Martinho (1st), Vasco Chaveca (2nd), Luís Fonseca (3rd) and João Laranjo (4th).

In the “Vela – Laser 4.7” regatta, Julien Carter from Grupo Naval de Olhão won, followed by Lúcia Neto, from Ginásio Clube de Faro, and Mara António, from Clube Naval de Portimão. The athlete from Portimo was, thus, 3rd in general and 2nd in women. In 4th place was Daniel Cristiano, also from Clube Naval de Portimão.

Both events took place within the scope of the Algarve Regional Championship.

As for the “Vela – Optimist” class, counting for the Southern Regional Qualification, the winner was Guilherme Cavaco, from the Ginásio Clube de Faro, with the sailor Filipe Lopes, from Clube Naval de Portimão, conquering the 4th position overall.

Sailor Marta Rodrigues, from Clube Naval de Portimão, was in 19th and 6th female.
