This Sunday's journey at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve began in a historic way, when Ana Carrasco became the first woman to win a World Championship in Motorcycling, taking first place from Alfonso Coppola, after the final curve of the Supersport race 300.

But the day was also a consecration for Jonathan Rea, in the main event of this race weekend at the Portimão circuit.

The British Kawasaki rider was once again unstoppable and won, for the 11th time in the Superbike World Championship and for the fifth consecutive time at the Autodromo do Algarve.

Podium in the Supersport 300 category, won by Ana Carrasco, the first woman to win a World Championship in motorcycling

Em supersport 300, the 11 laps of the race were full intensity, with the Spanish driver always involved in the fight for the first place, ending up surprising in the last meters, to win with a difference of just 53 thousandths of a second, against Coppola.

In addition to this, Garcia, Valle and Perez were also drivers who were also in charge of the race and closed the race close to Ana Carrasco. Perez, fifth, finished 338 thousandths of a second off the historic winner.

Turkish Kenan Sofuoglu won in Supersport

Equally much discussed was the victory in the class Supersport. PJ Jacobsen was the first commander in the initial phase of the race, but, with the accumulation of laps, the American lost ground, in a group where the top five of the championship were.

After Jules Cluzel and Lucas Mahias took the lead, as did Jacobsen, Kenan Sofuoglu climbed to first place in the eighth lap and never left the first place, even if pressured by Lucas Mahias.

The Frenchman tried his luck in the final phase of the race, already alone with the Turkish, after Cluzel had also lost ground.

Sofuoglu ended up securing the fourth victory of the year, with just 80 thousandths of an advantage over Mahias, who also lost command of the championship to his Turkish rivals.

Toprak Razgatlioglu won at Superstock 1000

Sofuoglu also saw his protege Toprak Razgatlioglu win in the S, proof of the European championship, where the Turkish was at a different level to win with a comfortable advantage, against Florian Marino and Maximilian Scheib, his podium companions.

Closing the day and an amazing weekend, in the second race of the World Cup weekend Superbike, Jonathan Rea, who had even started from 9th position, took the lead in the second of the 20 race laps, and never let go.

Rea crossed the finish line nearly six seconds ahead of Michael Van Der Mark, with the Dutchman securing his first podium of the year, in a race where Chaz Davies mortgaged the possibility of moving up to second in the championship after falling to three laps of the end.

It was a crash that also put Marco Melandri on the podium and left Eugene Laverty fourth.

Jonathan Rea dominated in Superbikes

With this double victory, in the races on Saturday and Sunday, Jonathan Rea reinforced his winning lead on the Algarve track and increased his accrual of points to 280 achieved here, he who participated in all 18 championship races held at the Autodromo Internacional of the Algarve.

On this last day of the program for the 10th race of the Superbike World Championship, which returned to Portimão after a year of absence, the wind dropped, especially in the morning, and the public joined in forcefully.

It was a beautiful close to a weekend where the Superbike party was once again in one of its cathedrals, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
