This afternoon, Portimonense beat Desportivo de Chaves, by 3-1, in a game played at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão, counting for the League Cup. With this victory, the Algarve moves to the group stage of the competition.

The Flavienses were even the first to score, in the 4th minute, when Tiba converted a penalty.

But Portimonense tied in the 17th minute, through Ricardo Pessoa. The break came with equality on the scoreboard, but with Chaves reduced to ten units, after Matheus Pereira was sent off in the 19th minute.

In the second half, Vítor Oliveira's men came back more aggressive and used their superiority in numbers, with Paulinho putting Portimonense ahead, after 51 minutes.

The 3-1 came on 74 minutes, this time by Fabrício, thus sealing the loose victory of the Portimão club.

The call for training in the Algarve included, for the first time, the reinforcements Oriol Rosell (defensive midfielder loaned by Sporting) and attacking midfielder Shoya Nakajima (which arrived in the Algarve from FC Tokyo).

Portimonense returned to winning ways, after three defeats in the I League. Their next clash is with Benfica, at Estádio da Luz, on Friday, the 8th, at 21 pm.
