The University of Algarve will welcome its new students with an "unprecedented" Welcoming Week, which starts on Monday, the 11th, and lasts until the 17th of September. The Algarve university promises a program "full of novelties", which will go beyond what has been done in recent years.

In practice, this means that the university will provide, free of charge, recreational and cultural activities to new students. These news will take place between the 15th and 17th of September and begin with a solemn reception session for new students at the UAlg Grand Auditorium, scheduled for 11:30 am on the 15th, which will be followed by a lunch offered to all new students at the Canteen of the Campus of Gambelas.

On the same day, at 15 pm, new students will be able to participate in an Open Day of surfing and bodyboarding, promoted by Associação AMAR, in Praia de Faro, or on a boat trip along the Ria Formosa, which will start at the Portas do Mar pier, in Faro. In the evening, from 21 pm, there will be a staged visit “Faro Unveiled”, which will reveal the history and cultural heritage of the city.

On the 16th, students are invited to enjoy an Open Day of stand up paddle, canoeing and sailing, scheduled for 10:00 am, at the Nautical Center of Praia de Faro. At 15:00 pm, the program of the previous day is repeated, with surfing and bodyboarding at the Clube de Surf de Faro and a boat trip on the Ria Formosa.

To end the Welcome Week, on the last day, 17th of September, from 10 am, the Municipal Swimming Pools of Faro will open the doors for an Open Day of swimming.

Despite intensifying in recent days, the party is launched starts well before. From Monday until September 14, the days on which the enrollment of 1st year students takes place, the Campus Life of UAlg will be set up, «a great outdoor exhibition, in which all the university's valences will be represented. and the city of Faro».

The activities that will take place from the 15th to the 17th of September are free, but places are limited to the capacity of the activities. With this in mind, registration is mandatory and must be done on the university's website.
