The movements Climáximo and Alentejo Litoral pelo Ambiente (ALA) denounced the carrying out of prospecting operations at sea, off Aljezur, which will have been carried out from Sines by the Italian vessel Vos Purpose on 2 and 9 September.

These polls, the organization argues, "bring back the threat of an oil hole" off the Costa Vicentina and "clearly put into question" the statements of Jorge Sanches, secretary of State for Energy, who told the newspaper earlier this month I express that the Aljezur well, to be carried out in the area under concession to the ENI/Galp consortium, had expired.

On the 2nd and 9th of September, «according to the records of international maritime traffic, the Italian vessel Vos Purpose was carrying out surveys from the Port of Sines, having gone to the area where the Aljezur well would be drilled».

«The opacity in relation to these maritime operations is total, since there is no record, request or authorization for these surveys, only verifiable through the records of international maritime traffic. In addition, three injunctions are active – from the Association of Algarve Municipalities, from the Municipality of Odemira and from the Algarve Livre de Petróleo Platform – which raises even more questions about the legality of Vos Purpose's activities. Meanwhile, the drilling vessel Saipem 12000, contracted by ENI and GALP for the Aljezur hole, left Walvis Bay, in Namibia, and is moving towards Portugal», assures the movement.

Climáximo and ALA "require full clarification from the Government on the status of contracts and these surveys carried out a few days ago."
