Joaquim Guerreiro, 50 years old, died this morning at the Hospital de Loulé, victim of the cancer he had been fighting for a few months.

Among the many things he did in his life, Joaquim Guerreiro was the creator of Festival F, which ends today, in Vila-Adentro de Faro, as he had already been the main mentor of the early days of Festival Med, in Loulé.

In 1993, he was elected to the Loulé Municipal Assembly, by the PSD, his usual party. He was later an advisor and chief of staff to the then president of the Loulé Chamber, Seruca Emídio.

In the 2009 municipal elections, he joined the lists and was elected councilor.

It was in the animation of the city of Loulé that Joaquim Guerreiro left his mark: first as one of the creators of the Med Festival, which made the city's historic center known to thousands of people and ended up becoming a national reference, but also of Night White (Loulé). He also played a key role in the rehabilitation of Cine Teatro Louletano.

After the Municipalities of 2013, Joaquim Guerreiro was invited to move to Faro, where he was delegate director of the Municipal Theater of Faro – Municipalized Services. And he went to the Algarve capital, which brought his know-how in the area of ​​animation, creating the Festival F and the Alameda Beer Fest.

Last February, Joaquim Guerreiro had been announced as head of the PSD list, to try to regain the Loulé Chamber. But about a month later, after discovering the disease that would take him, in a sudden way, he would be announced to give up and be replaced by José Graça.

O South Informationhe learned that Joaquim Guerreiro's funeral will be next Monday, in Querença, but the hours of the funeral ceremonies are not yet known.
