The Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) is promoting the region this week at the “Priavte Luxury Forums America” event, taking place in Montego Bay (Jamaica), which brings together the main agents of the luxury tourism industry. 

This participation in one of the «main events that brings together the major agents dedicated to this segment aims to position the Algarve as an appealing alternative for luxury tourists, arousing interest and curiosity in relation to the destination and its offer», says the ATA

The event “is mainly aimed at the North American and Canadian markets, but also at Brazil and the rest of Latin America. Through this participation, ATA intends to arouse interest and curiosity for the Algarve in these markets, positioning it as an appealing destination that presents, among other aspects of its diversified offer, a set of infrastructure and luxury assets», he adds .

«This is another strategic action that integrates the activity plan defined by ATA and which is considered a priority, given the return, not only in terms of international projection but especially of potential business opportunities for tourism in the Algarve, which we believe will from here it can result», explains Dora Coelho, executive director of ATA.

«This event is characterized by the careful choice of its participants and by the intense program of activities and meetings that will allow us to gather, socialize and consolidate relationships with some of the leading specialists in the area of ​​luxury tourism, from operators and travel agencies exclusively dedicated to this segment, to other professionals such as private travel designers ou lifestyle and travel consultants. In this context, we consider the participation of the Algarve in this forum as extremely relevant and opportune», he defends.

According to ATA, the «US market, in particular, recorded a growth of 2016% in 23,4 with regard to the number of overnight stays in the Algarve compared to the previous year, representing, in absolute terms, a value close to 125 thousand overnight stays ».

"This growth trend seems to continue, as the figures for the first half of this year indicate a growth of 23,6% compared to the same period in 2016. At the moment, the US is positioned as the 10th external market who are most looking for the Algarve as a tourist destination», he concludes.
