A 21-year-old Spanish girl, who was descending the cliff in the Ponta da Piedade area (Lagos), when she slipped and fell on the sand of Praia Grande, suffering a possible fracture in her right leg, had to be rescued by helicopter yesterday.

The alert was received at 12:30 pm this Monday, at the Maritime Police picket, through the MRCC Lisbon, and two PM agents were immediately transferred to the location. The Fire Department of Lagos and a team from INEM were already there.

Given the seriousness of the injury, and the fact that “the place where it was located was difficult to access” and also the “bad sea conditions”, it was decided to rescue the victim by helicopter.

The victim was rescued at 14:15 pm and transported by air to the hospital in Faro.
