The 32 Health Posts of Praia do Algarve provided 2413 consultations during the month of July, revealed the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve, in an assessment made of the provision of these units that support users in the region's bathing areas.

Most consultations, 1315, were related to treatments and sutures, but there were also consultations related to spiderfish and insect bites (378), to measure blood pressure (437), to administer injections (109) and to perform tests of blood glucose (143). The most popular posts were Armação de Pera, Ilha da Culatra and Ilha da Armona.

In 31 of the cases, it was necessary to refer users to other health units.

With regard to the profile of users, 66,8% of the citizens attended at the Praia Health Posts are not administrative residents in the Algarve Region (50,8% are residents in other regions of the country and 16% are foreigners) and the remaining 33,2, XNUMX% are resident in the district of Faro, «percentages that are justified given the high number of tourists, national and foreign, who are in the Algarve at this time of year», according to ARS do Algarve.

The Beach Health Posts are open daily from 10:00 am to 19:00 pm and are guaranteed by the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve in collaboration with the Portuguese Red Cross, under the 2017 Summer Plan. They will be open until the 17th of September.

These posts aim to “ensure nursing health care and respond to clinical situations that can be treated on site, or, in case of need, refer the user to a more appropriate health unit”.
