The Municipality of Lagos handed over house keys to sixteen needy families in Lagos, under the new supported lease regime. The sub-lease contracts for the apartments, located in the Lacóbriga development, in Bensafrim, were signed on Thursday, 3 August.

The 16 fractions allocated to as many families are «reserved for supported sub-letting, in a process that resulted from a specific partnership between the Municipality of Lagos and the Housing and Urban Rehabilitation Institute (IHRU)», according to the Câmara de Lagos.

The houses were awarded by public tender, in which 163 candidates competed. The choice of families to support was made by a jury composed of three elements: Sara Coelho, councilor for Housing and Municipal Social Action of the Municipality of Lagos (president of the jury), councilor Nuno Serafim and Duarte Rio, president of the União das Freguesias de Bensafrim and Baron of S. João.

The dwellings that were sublet under the contracts signed this week are of different types, namely four T2, nine T3 and three T4. The houses in question were rented by the owner of the development to the IHRU, which, in partnership with the Câmara de Lagos, leased them to these needy households.
