João Duarte will head the independent candidacy of the group “Cidadãos por Monchique” for the Council of this municipality, at the Autárquicas de 1 de Outubro. The movement will also advance with candidacies for the Municipal Assembly and Parish Council of Monchique, headed by Maria Elisa and Cristina Sousa, respectively.
This movement arose, according to “Citizens for Monchique”, “from the need that several people in the municipality of Monchique felt to create alternatives to the parties that currently exist”.
“Current promises have become insufficient, resources are not used correctly, people are dissatisfied and misunderstood. It is necessary to create more, to do better. Our commitment is simple: drop the party colors and place, once and for all, the well-being of citizens and the municipality's potential at the top of the priorities», assures the group.
For “Citizens for Monchique”, it's time for the municipality to stand out “for something more than just our altitude”. "We are great, we always have been, and we deserve a prominent place and the consideration of all our fellow countrymen", they defend.
