Three nights, five concerts, but only one musical style. The Loulé International Jazz Festival returns to Alcaidaria do Castelo in this city from today, the 4th of August, until Sunday, the 6th, for a new wave of concerts performed by renowned national and foreign artists.

Today, Friday, “Paulo Luz Trio” and “João Barradas Trio” take the stage. Tomorrow, Saturday, the public will be able to count on performances by Beatriz Pessoa and “Grand Pianoramax”. On Sunday, the festival ends with a show by the Loulé Jazz Trio, accompanied by Perico Sambeat.

On the 4th and 5th the concerts start at 21 pm, while on the 30th the start is scheduled for 6 pm. All shows are outdoors.

This is an event with the signature of the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, which has the artistic direction of the renowned Portuguese musician Mário Laginha, who even has a Loulé “rib”. The main idea of ​​the initiative is to «promote jazz among the Algarve community», while inserting this musical style into the summer cultural program, «in order to diversify the offer to tourists visiting the region», according to the Câmara de Loulé .

This will be the 23rd edition of a festival that is already a reference at a regional level, when it comes to jazz, and which has brought renowned artists to Loulé over the years.

Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Ray Brown, Monty Alexander, Dave Douglas, Birelli Lagrene, Dewey Redman, John Nuggent, Dave Weckl, Kirk Lightsey, Ahmad Jamal, Peter King, Franco Ambrosetti, Louis Sclavis, Henry Texier, Aldo Romano, Anne Ducros , Gilad Atzmon, the Orchester National de Jazz de France, Florin Nicolesco or Johnny Griffin are some of the international names that have already played at the festival.

With regard to the Portuguese, Zé Eduardo, Carlos Bica, Carlos Barretto, Irmãos Moreira, Mário Barreiros, Pedro Guedes, Bernardo Sassetti, Mário Delgado or the big bands Jazz na Filarmónica and Jazz Orchestra of Matosinhos were already part of the event's alignment. .
