The festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada, in Albufeira, have already started, but the high point takes place on the 14th of August, with the traditional procession across the sea and blessing the fishermen and their boats, for «a year of smooth toil ».

It all starts at 15:15, on the 14th, with the prayer of the rosary at the Ermida da Orada, followed by the Solemn Eucharist at 16:00.

From 17:15 pm, the boats gather for the procession, where the image of Our Lady of Orada is venerated.

At night, the Largo da Nossa Senhora da Orada hosts a musical show with the fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro.

Until the next 15th of August, there will also be masses and scenic representations in honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada.

From the 7th to the 11th of August, the Igreja Matriz hosts Masses at 9:00 am and 21:00 pm. On the 12th, there will be mass at 18 pm and 00 pm, the latter being followed by a procession to the Ermida da Orada, where the family rosary will take place. In Olhos de Água, mass will be at 21:00.

The festivities close on August 15th – holy day – with solemn Eucharist at the Igreja Matriz, at 10:00 am, at Quinta da Balaia, at 11:30 am, and, finally, at 19:00 pm, at the Ermida da Orada.

The feast in honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada «is a tradition that comes from far away and that every year gathers hundreds of people to thank and ask for the protection of the Virgin, known for blessing the fishermen of the land», explains the Albufeira Town Council.
