156 tributes to individuals and entities from the municipality of Odemira will mark the Municipality Day on 8 September.
The ceremonies start at 9:00 am, at Jardim Sousa Prado, in Odemira.
In the cultural area, tribute will be paid to three individuals: the Cultural Group of Odemira, the artisan Inês Viana and Sister Maria da Ascensão Marques Lourenço, for their work in favor of local culture.
In terms of economic development, a total of 10 companies from different sectors are distinguished for their work throughout the year.
Due to the work in the area of education throughout the 2016/2017 school year, the School Groupings of Colos, Odemira, Sabóia and São Teotónio are honored.
In sport, «more than a hundred athletes from the municipality are honored who have achieved excellent results on an individual level, in sports such as athletics, canoeing, swimming, powerlifting, target shooting, in national, regional and district competitions, as well as in school sports competitions», says the municipality of Odemir.
In collective sports, the tribute goes to the Sport Club of Hunting and Fishing of São Miguel, the Clube Náutico do Litoral Alentejano, the Sport and Cultural Center of Odemira, the Sport Clube Odemirense and the Group of Schools of Odemira.
At the end of the Municipal Day protocol ceremony, there will be a lunch open to the population at the Recinto de Festas, in Odemira.
