Buying a house in the Algarve was 2,9% more expensive in the second quarter of 2017, according to the real estate portal's price index idealist. With this increase, the housing price is situated at 1.599 euros/m2. 

Compared to the rest of the country, housing in Portugal increased by 3,8% during the same period, standing at 1.497 euros/m2.

According to the idealist, "all regions have seen an increase in prices compared to the first quarter of 2017".

The regions that showed the most significant increase were Madeira and Alentejo (8,5% and 7,8% respectively), followed by Lisbon with an increase of 4,6%. The regions with the smallest rises were Algarve and North (2,9% in both cases) and Center with a quarterly variation of 2,6%.

Lisbon with 2.050 euros/m2 continues to be the most expensive region, followed by the Algarve where the m2 costs 1.599 euros and Madeira (1.273 euros/m2).

On the opposite side of the table is the Center (939 euros/m2), Alentejo (1.074 euros/m2) and the North (1.081 euros/m2) as the cheapest regions.
