A 37-year-old man died this morning while doing illegal underwater hunting in the Fuzeta channel (Olhão), in the Ria Formosa. The victim was run over by a pleasure craft.
In statements to the Sul Informação, Nunes Ferreira, commander of the Port of Olhão, revealed that “it was not the first time that this man was caught doing illegal underwater hunting”.
The man did not have any type of light signaling to signal his presence and ended up being rammed by the vessel, which did not see him, at around 1:00 am today.
The victim was a native of Olhão.
