24 social housing houses in the municipality of Olhão will undergo maintenance work so that they can accommodate families.

On Tuesday, 25 July, a protocol was signed between the municipal company Fesnima and Norasil – Sociedade de Construção Civil.

The works on these houses, which are managed by Fesnima, under the program contract signed with the Municipality of Olhão, «intend to restore these houses to the conditions of health and habitability that will allow them to be inhabited by the families to whom will be granted, within the scope of the tender for the allocation of housing on a supported rent basis», says the Chamber of Olhão.

The houses to be worked on are located in Bairro da Armona (six), Bairro Fundo Fomento à Habitação (six), Bairro Manuel de Oliveira (two), Bairro Horta Dr. Pádua (four), Largo da Feira (two), Horta da Cavalinha (one), Municipal Loteamento dos Murtais (one), Bairro Nossa Senhora do Carmo (one), and Rua da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa, in Pechão (one).

António Pina, president of Fesnima City Council and Board of Directors, assured that «these are the first signs of more effective management of the municipal housing stock by Fesnima, whose results are already beginning to be seen on the ground, namely with these works , which are going to rehabilitate another 24 social houses, which will be the home of many other families from Olhão that need them».

"Housing is one of the essential pillars for a decent life and, for our part, we will continue to do everything to ensure that everyone has access to it," he added.

The value of the contract award is around 140 thousand euros, with a period of execution of 90 days.
