A concert by the “Alma Nuestra” project, which Salvador Sobral is part of, at 22 pm, on the 00rd, will open this year's edition of the Lagoa Jazz Festival, taking place from June 23rd to 23th, in the open-air amphitheater of Sítio of the Estômbar Fountains.

This project was born from the common passion of the members of “Alma Nuestra” «for the sweet sounds of Latin America and, at the same time, for jazz».

The approach of Salvador Sobral, who sings, and Victor Zamora, who plays the piano, is “personalized, with well-known and timeless songs from Cuba and Argentina, among other South American countries, reinventing them and making them unique and personal”. On double bass, there will be André Rosinha and, on drums, André Sousa Machado.

The many spectators who have already bought tickets for this inaugural concert are hoping to find out if the winner of the Eurovision Festival will… “Love for the Two”.

As this is an international festival, which has been asserting itself «as a recognized event, with a loyal audience, in a unique and magical place», with good acoustic conditions, there will also be the presence of “Nocturno”, on the night of 23 , which ends with the aforementioned concert by Salvador Sobral and the “Alma Nuestra”.

This is a project that combines the sound of the piano with the bandoneons. The duo, composed by Pasquale Stafano, on piano, and Gianni Iorio, on bandoneon, has performed at classical music and jazz festivals in countries such as: Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Croatia, Morocco, Taiwan, China, South Korea and Japan.

The concert in Lagoa marks the group's debut in Portugal. For the 24th, a concert by “Marius Preda 4teto” is booked, starting at 22 pm. According to the organization, Marius "developed a new way of playing the cimbalom" and the result was to become the first cimbalom player in the history of jazz.

On the last day, June 25, “Kolme” and “Alberto López 22teto” will perform, starting at 00 pm. «Kolme is a new perspective of the piano trio in jazz, with influences received from various musical areas due to the multi-faceted path of the three musicians», says the organizers of the Lagoa de Jazz Festival.

As for “Alberto López 5teto”, as a soloist guitarist, “he had the opportunity to participate in major flamenco events such as “La Bienal de Sevilla” and “La Noche Blanca del Flamenco”, alongside prestigious names, “El Pele” , “Estrella Morente”, “Arcángel”, “Tomatito” and “Israel Galván”».

In addition to music, there is also, during the festival, an exhibition of thematic painting, with jazz as the theme, by Xicofran – Francisco Fernandes. To this is added a space lounges.

The Festival's artistic direction is António Palma.

Tickets cost 10 euros and can be purchased on here, at the Convento de São José, at the Auditório de Lagoa, at Worten and Fnac.
