The Fire Brigades of Olhão, Faro, Loulé and Tavira have been promoting since yesterday, June 5th, a joint recruit to train municipal firefighters. This pioneering initiative in Portugal will enable the training of a new generation of firefighters at the service of the respective municipalities.

In all, 34 recruited firefighters are involved, who will be in training by the end of the year. According to the Municipality of Olhão, the course has a total duration of 995 hours and will be given by the National Firefighters School, in the Algarve, which "will allow the municipalities to reduce the operational costs of training".

«This regional project represents a proactive posture, in a logic of continuity and reinforcement of the work in the area of ​​aid and civil protection, as well as in the increase of resilience of the respective municipalities, and is intended to be the first of several future formations to carry out in the region», added the local authority.
