The objective is, therefore, «to revitalize and promote tourist activities and traditional knowledge of Baixo Guadiana, involving various themes and different target audiences. The strategy is focused on creating tour packages with titled unique experiences. These workshops focus on excellent products from the territory, such as the Traditional Salinas, Homemade Bread, Basketry, Traditional Confectionery, Empreita and Bobbin Lace», explains Odiana.

This meeting, which brings together the regions of Algarve, Alentejo, Center and North, in a total of 20 projects, represents «the most distinct, culturally and artistically, done in mainland Portugal and beyond», he adds.

The conference is attended by an expert on the concept of creative tourism Greg Richards. The CREATOUR project aims to develop an integrated approach and pilot a research agenda focused on creative tourism in small towns and rural areas.

According to Odiana, this initiative "combines cultural mapping and exercises for benchmarking with the analysis of case studies of creative tourism. From a set of 138 applications, five were selected for each region» and that Odiana received the green light.

CREATOUR, which has now had its second stage, lasts 36 months, is coordinated by the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and financed by the Portugal 2020 Joint Activities Program (PAC). here
