An oncological screening of workers at the municipal company Infralobo was carried out last week by a medical team from Grupo Hospital de Loulé.
Considering that «small gestures can change lives», the chairman of the Board of Directors of Infralobo joined the World Cancer Day campaign, which consisted of offering a screening to company employees and also making a donation to the Portuguese League Against Cancer.
The Preventive Oncology and Screening consultation carried out by André Cruz, an oncologist, consisted in knowing the employee's medical history, that is, symptoms, personal and family history.
A physical examination was then performed, focusing on the dermatological and breast examination, followed by an on-site analytical assessment – blood count, summary biochemistry and tumor markers.
Recommendations were also indicated according to the clinical case of each employee.
Finally, they were referred to an Oncology consultation, a specialty exam at the Hospital de Loulé or Clínica Internacional de Olhão, if it was clinically justifiable.
This screening was made possible due to the immediate availability of the Grupo Hospital de Loulé team to carry out the screening and travel to the company, for which Infralobo «thanks a lot for this collaboration, which had the purpose of helping, sensitizing and educating its employees. contributors".
