Fuzeta returns to “Pé na Terra” to the sound of music

Workshops of dance, but also concerts, handicrafts and gastronomy make another festival “Pé na Terra” to be held from 15 to 18 June, in the Zona Ribeirinha da Fuzeta.

The event “promotes a cultural and musical exchange between groups and artists from Portugal, Brazil and Africa”, according to the União de Freguesias de Moncarapacho e Fuzeta, which supports the festival.

Under the motto “Já feel me there”, the event opens musically with Roberta Espinosa, who invites Sambe, and with the group Luso Baião (15 June), followed by “Os 4 Mensageiros” and “Fernando Anitelli” (16), “Terra Livre” and Diego Oliveira (17), ending with “Samba sem Fronteiras”, “Semente de Iroko”, “Coco da Gente” and “Trio Xamego” (18).

The headliner is Fernando Anitelli, presenting “Teatro Mágico”, a project that mixes circus art, culture, poetry and music.

«Having origins and roots in Portuguese and African popular cultures, Brazilian popular culture presents similarities in sounds, dances and instruments that refer to the origins of Portuguese colonization and the mixture of the two peoples», says that União de Freguesias.

These will be days «when people from the four corners of the world» will discover «to the sound of music, the charms of the island, the gastronomy and the so warm and peculiar population of Fuzeta».

There will also be a “Child Space” at the event.

Tickets for the festival, organized by the Associação Danças da Terra, are free for residents of the União das Freguesias de Moncarapacho and Fuzeta.

Roberta Espinosa:

Mix jazz, ciranda, funk e ijexá, and put in the same samba. This is the sound of Roberta Espinosa. As a child, the carioca born in 1986 listened to Tim Maia and Paulinho da Viola, influenced by her father; by her mother's tuned highs, the sambas recorded by Elis Regina. Singer, songwriter and actress, Roberta Espinosa studied the “Teatro Tablado” for four years. He started singing in musical pieces at the age of 16. He worked on “Raul: Metamorfose Ambulante”, at Teatro Ipanema, in 2003.

From the stages, he jumped to the samba circles, with special participation in O Samba do Trabalhador, with Moacyr Luz, Galo Cantô, Casuarina, among others. Also participated in shows from several groups and singers, such as Trilogia Carioca and Ana Costa and Elisa Addor. He also performed at Softel and Othon Palace, in Rio de Janeiro, alongside composer Otávio Santos (piano).

 

Luso Baiao:

Luso Baião is a band formed by Brazilian and Portuguese musicians, having emerged in the city of Lisbon in March 2013, with the aim of giving primacy to the musical heritage between Portugal and Brazil, consisting of Cícero Mateus (vocals and guitar), Betinho Mateus (vocals, triangle and percussion), Enrique Matos (zabumba and choir), and Ivo Dias (bass and choir).

Famous names in Brazilian music such as Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Jackson do Pandeiro and Gilberto Gil are the great influences of Luso Baião, but reinterpretations of Portuguese singers and instrumentalists such as Sérgio Godinho and Rão Kyao are also present in the band's repertoire. In their songs they make clear their touch of originality, with well-conceived fusions of rhythms present in the LiningSuch as Xote, Xaxado, Drag-foot and Baião rhythm, born from the marriage between Fado and maracatu, with hints of Reggae, Rock, Samba, Coco.

 

Fernando Anitelli:

Fernando Anitelli is a musician, composer, actor and responsible for the creation of “Teatro Mágico”, a project inspired by the book by German writer Hermann Hesse, called “O lobo da steppe”.

He has a degree in Social Communication and, right at the beginning of college, he formed a band called “Madalena 19”, which was his first experience as a musician. Fernando Anitelli was also an actor, working with directors such as Oswaldo Montenegro and Ismael Araújo.

The “Magic Theater” is a mixture of circus, poetry, political discussions, and music, which debates themes related to art and culture. Currently, Fernando Anitelli has a new project called “Fernando Anitelli Trio”.

 

Free Land:

Celebrating around the sacred fire, in harmony with the rhythms of nature, a new musical project was born: Terra Livre. In a melting pot of sounds of the world, with roots in the reggae/dub, gnawa, afrobeat, and even soukus, Terra Livre expresses the voice of the seed that wants to germinate and grow, sings the breath of the wind or the melody of flowing water.

Originating in Sintra, the group consists of the following members: Adriano Pereira (Clarinet, Transversal Flute, Voice), Gonçalo Sarmento (Guitar, Saxophone, Kora, Voice), Leonardo Marsh (Guitar, Voice), Pedro Pereira (Bass), Rodrigo Marsh (Keyboard, Guitar, Voice) and Tiago Santos (Drums).

 

Seed of Iroko:

Formed in France in February 2015, the group Semente de Iroko (seed of the sacred tree) is rooted in the Afro-Brazilian tradition of afoxé, traditional music from northeastern Brazil (Recife, Olinda, Salvador da Bahia).

Composed of people passionate about Afro-Brazilian popular culture, this musical group presents a varied and eclectic repertoire, inspired by the great names afoxes, like Oxum Panda or Alafim Oyo, but also by great Brazilian artists.

The proposal of the Semente de Irôko group is to discover this culture through various rhythms of the jexa even to the more traditional rhythms of candomblé, with the aim of popularizing this art, with a varied and festive melodic repertoire.

 

Xamego Trio:

The heart sings, unites the traditional with the contemporary. It speaks of love making the feeling latent with each beat of the zabumba. It mixes experience and youth, the rhythmic rhythm with the feeling in action. There are thirty years of history translated into rhythm, cadence and feeling.

Since 1982, Dió de Araújo, founder of the trio, zabumba and voice, together with Zequinha on the triangle and Joãozinho on the accordion, started the trajectory of the trio that gave voice to the culture of the Northeast of Brazil. Many musicians went through the trio, such as Chiquinho Alves, Quim de Oli, Zé Almeida, among others, until reaching the current formation: Dió, Demetrios and Felipe de Araújo.

Dió de Araújo played with names in Brazilian music such as King Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Gilberto Gil, Maria Betânia, among many others. Currently and in the lining, they are among the most respected trios in Brazil.

 

Coco of People:

In 2013 Coco da Gente was born, a group idealized by percussionist Pedro Campolina, and which mixes the Afro-Indigenous musicality of the coconut, with tap dancing, samba de roda and ciranda with great joy, making the shows are engaging and lively, always motivating the direct participation of the audience.

The band's repertoire consists of original songs and the repertoire of great names in Brazilian popular culture, such as Selma do Coco, Lia de Itamaracá, Luiz Gonzaga, Verdelinho, Pacheco and Dona Zeza. In addition to performing at festivals and concert halls, the group insists on continuing to perform on the street, which is the home of popular culture.
