The work to replace the turf at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão is proceeding «at a good pace» and the mat will be ready to receive matches at the start of the Premier League, announced the club alvinegro on its website.
According to Portimonense, two games are already scheduled, between the 22nd and 26th of July, on the new pitch, which will serve as a presentation of the team to partners and fans.
In addition to the new lawn, «the works also include the renovation of the entire irrigation and drainage system, using more up-to-date methods», adds Portimonense.
The work on the new pitch is in charge of RED (Relvados Algarve), the company also responsible for the stadium and training center in Benfica, Porto, Sporting, Sporting de Braga or Cidade do Futebol.
The return of the Portimonense squad to work is scheduled for June 29, with medical examinations scheduled for the first two days.
Portimonense will begin its preparation for the return to the Premier League at the Portimonense Internship Center, and, according to Alvinegros, some games and participation in some tournaments are already scheduled, before the game for the League Cup and start of the NOS League».
