The landscaping redevelopment work on the central divider on Avenida São Lourenço da Barrosa, better known as the V6, in Portimão, will begin. The Portimonense City Council will invest 70 thousand euros in this intervention, which will focus on a section of 2,65 kilometers between the roundabout at Pedra Mourinha and the roundabout at Três Castelos.

In practice, the planted areas will be redefined, «which will intersperse with paved areas, where repairs will be made to the structure of the separator in areas where it is damaged».

The intervention has a maximum duration of 90 days and will be carried out in a south-north direction, in other words, "the space will be rehabilitated next to the Três Castles roundabout and adjacent spaces to the Oceano Atlântico Building", advancing. then towards the roundabouts of Continente and Pedra Mourinha. The work will not imply "neither cuts or detours in traffic, only specific restrictions that will be duly marked on the spot".

The work is justified by the municipality by the fact that the main artery of the city is, nowadays, «a space without character and not very appealing from an aesthetic point of view, along which there are masses of vegetation distributed in a somewhat random way».

"It is intended that this intervention, together with other interventions that have already been carried out on other roads in the city, contribute to the improvement of the quality of urban public space through the creation of more appealing areas, with low maintenance costs", concluded the autarchy.
