Some electricity boxes in all parishes in the municipality of Silves are being painted. The works started in November, in São Marcos da Serra they are finished, but only in September will all the paintings be done.

And if, in Silves, Bambi has been doing the work, in the other places the boxes are being painted by Flávio Pontes.

«Having already been done iconographic research and preparation of materials, the final intervention is currently taking place, with the application of the drawings in the selected places», tells the Câmara de Silves.

With the initiative, which began in the parish of Silves as part of the commemoration of the International Day of Educating Cities, the municipality of Silvense wants to «increase the interest of young people and the population in general in art in the municipality, as well as improve the quality of urban space».

Flávio Pontes is a member of the 100 PAVOR Association (an association of artists that has been in operation since 2013 and is dedicated to promoting art among children and young people), and is responsible for the creation of several images that decorate the boxes spread across the various parishes of the county .

These images were designed to introduce either reproductions and reinterpretations of monuments, or iconic people and characters, but also artistic and architectural details, in the boxes.

One of the purposes is to promote an association with the identity of the residents of each parish.

“Thus, through this artistic and urban intervention, the space also becomes more beautiful and more attractive for those who visit us. The project, which was named Stencils it also marks the 750 years of the Foral de Silves», concludes that City Council.
