Renowned accordionists took the “soul” of this musical instrument to the auditorium of the Municipal Library of Castro Marim, on Sunday, in a concert that filled the house.

The concert “Acordeão d'Alma” was one of the initiatives with which Castro Marim celebrated World Accordion Day and brought to this Sotavento council the already renowned João Frade (world champion), Duo Moscow, composed by Domi Emorine and Roman Jbanov , also world champions, João Filipe Guerreiro (vice world champion) and young accordionist Hugo Madeira, a student at the accordion school of Associação Mito Algarvio, who despite being only 10 years old, has already won international awards.

On stage were also Nelson Conceição, Emanuel Marçal and Anabela Silva.

Before the music, the history of the accordion was recalled, in a conversation that, like the show, aimed to pay homage to «the Algarve's “soul” and culture, intrinsically linked and differentiated by this instrument», according to the Chamber of Castro Marim.

The theme was discussed at a gathering to which Filomena Sintra, vice-president of the Castro Marim City Council, Ivan Dias, director and producer of the documentary “A Sabedoria na Ponta dos Dedos – O Mito do Accordeão Algarvio”, shown at the beginning from the event, Paulo Pires, cultural programmer, renowned accordionist João Frade and Hermenegildo Guerreiro, music teacher.

Initiative of “Mito Algarvio” (Association of Accordionists of the Algarve), the concert “Acordeão d'Alma” in Castro Marim had the support of the Municipality of Castro Marim and the program “365 Algarve”.
