This Wednesday, the 17th of May, the Regional Directorate of Culture and the Council of Culture of the Junta de Andalucia signed the financing agreement for the project “The Castles of Frontier: Development of Transfrontier Cultural Tourism” (FORTours).

The project, which will be implemented under the Interreg VA Spain – Portugal Cooperation Program (POCTEP 2014-2020), intends, as he explains
Alexandra Gonçalves, Regional Director of Culture, «to implement a cross-border itinerary that integrates the low and late medieval fortifications of the Southwest Peninsular».

According to a note sent to the newsrooms by the Regional Directorate of Culture, «the partners are investing in new technologies and hope to reach the cross-border business fabric, for the development of applications that allow the geo-location of this heritage in parallel with the creation of a Portal WEB for dissemination of the itinerary».

On both sides of the border, in Portugal and Andalusia, common interactive applications will be implemented, «for use in monuments, landscapes and historical places associated with the Itinerary», adds the Regional Directorate of Culture.

Alexandra Gonçalves says that «our attention and action will be focused on new formats of mediation of tourist activity that correspond to the creation of a sensory and narrative universe, that is, the digital universe of applications, games and/or interactive reconstitutions».

The implementation of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) solutions aims to «offer alternative experience models, based on the consumption of new digital content, in continuous interaction, generating the possibility of experiences both along the route and before and after the journey. visit”, concludes the Regional Directorate of Culture.
