Luís Conceição will present a piano recital this Saturday, the 29th, at 18 pm at Igreja da Misericórdia in Tavira.
The event is part of the program “Música nas Igrejas”, which “aims to dynamize the built heritage, as well as to promote a taste for music”, according to the Town Council of Tavira.
Luís Conceição is also a composer and was born in 1974.
He began his musical studies at the age of five, at the Conservatório Regional do Algarve, having completed the general piano course.
He graduated in Musical Sciences, at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and, in Piano, at Universidade de Évora. «Its language is, essentially, of fusion, showing affinities with ethnic, classical and jazz music», considers the Câmara de Tavira.
The artist worked as an accompanist pianist, teacher of piano and music history in national conservatories.
As a pianist and composer, he has performed in national and international halls, solo and in chamber and orchestral formations.
Luís Conceição has composed more than 250 works since 1993, part of them recorded in five CD of author editing. «He currently teaches at the Music Academy of Tavira and leads several musical projects, where he privileges a symbiotic relationship between music, poetry and cinema», says the Tavira local authority.
These projects include, for example, “Trio Osmose”, “Between us and words” and “Metropolis”. Luís Conceição is also the author of pedagogical works for children in the field of piano.
