The Lagoa City Council's 2016 Management Report, which had a positive result for the year in the amount of around 868 thousand euros, was approved by a majority, last Thursday, April 12, by the Municipal Assembly.

The document had been approved at a Chamber meeting on March 28, with the abstention of the PSD councilors.

According to the Municipality of Lagoa, the approved report «comes to reinforce the financial health of the Municipality achieved in the year in which Lagoa was awarded the “Cidade do Vinho 2016” award»

The municipality highlights the fact that the net result has been positive for the third consecutive year, even though, compared to 2015, it has decreased from around 3,8 million euros to 868 thousand euros. This decrease is due, according to the Câmara de Lagoa, to a “substantial increase in expenditure”.

The increase in expenditure was verified, according to the executive, due to the increase in personnel costs, of around 350 thousand euros, to the «substantial increase in the weight of the provision of services, which are fundamentally due to the imputation of the costs of the organization of FATACIL in the expense of the Chamber and to the strong investment in the conservation of assets” and to the increase in current transfers, namely to non-profit institutions, by around 300 thousand euros.

For 2017, the balance of 10,275 million euros will be carried over and, according to data disclosed by the Municipality, the medium and long-term debt is 2,157 million euros.

The autarchy adds that, in 2016, "it proceeded to pay the debts assumed due to the dissolution of FATASUL, paving the way for its extinction".

Total revenue rose 10,89%, while the pantry increased 23,27 compared to 2015.

The Câmara de Lagoa adds that it has already drawn up the Strategic Plan for the Municipality of Lagoa, the Mobility Plan and the revision of the PDM, which will be presented "in the near future".
