Children between the ages of 5 and 10 from schools in Silves are spending «Easter Mornings at the Museum» to occupy their free time during school holidays. Visits to the Municipal Museum of Archeology of Silves began on the 5th and will continue until the 12th of April, always between 10:00 and 12:00.

Small visitors, in addition to getting to know the Silvense museum space, are also challenged to participate in different activities. One of the suggestions is the clue game “Discovering Easter”, which “will challenge the participants to unravel various puzzles and at the end will guarantee everyone the offer of an Easter egg”, according to the City Council of Silves.

Children will also have the opportunity to experience “Reflecting in the Mirror Figures from Our History”, “in which the youngest will adorn themselves with props that will personify different figures from history that will be duly presented to them (prehistoric, gladiators, crusaders, kings , queens, princes, princesses, etc.)».

The program of activities also includes the action “Give Life to the Oscar”, «a human skeleton that is affectionately known as “Oscar”». “It would have been a young adult, hit in the back by an arrowhead when, in 1248, the Christians took the castle. His features are not known and, therefore, the challenge to the participants will be, through the Oscar's bones and the information given about him, to be able to create a face and a body that could possibly portray him», explained the local authority.

The city's legends will also be in focus, namely that of the almond trees in bloom, which will inspire a plastic expression workshop. Still related to the Moorish heritage of Silves, the initiative “A day with the Potter of Mouraria” is promoted, recalling the place where the Moors lived, after the Christian conquest, where a workshop of this art would exist. Here, small visitors have the opportunity to «model their own ceramic pieces, using clay and pigments that will give them color in the painting phase».

The suggestions of the municipality of Silvense to entertain the municipality's students are complete with “Bingo no Museu”, which works like the traditional game that gives it its name, but which, instead of numbers, has museum pieces represented.

Those interested in registering for these mornings at the Museum must register in advance with the Heritage and Archeology Sector by calling 282 444 854 or by emailing [email protected].
