“Smart Cities, Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility of Organizations (RSO)” is the theme that the IX National Convention of the Network of Social Responsibility of Organizations-RSO PT Network will debate, in Faro, at the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve (UAlg), next Thursday, April 20th.

The organization stresses that “the “smart city” is increasingly a catalyst for knowledge, technologies and a place of confluence of many public policies (national, regional and local) and business, social and cultural dynamics, including entrepreneurship ».

“The smart city paradigm also reflects a new way of thinking about the city, urban services and the interaction of various stakeholders (municipalities, government, companies, knowledge centers, the community, and people in general), providing quality services and infrastructure, creation of economic and social value, the growing participation of citizens and the dissemination of the values of social responsibility of organizations (RSO)», he adds.

In the smart city, «city management/government, historically organized in “silos”, gives rise to an increasingly “network” approach, in which the widespread use of digital resources assumes a relevant instrumental role».

“In addition, the energy transition and the emergence of industry 4.0, with the growing role of cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and a vast array of technologies, are strengthening the infrastructure on which the smart city. More than a brave new technological world, the smart city will have to be a means to achieve goals, from the outset, related to improving people's quality of life, sustainable development, saving resources, sustainable entrepreneurship and mobility . A sign of this are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a global agenda adopted during the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development, in September 2015, comprising 17 goals and 169 goals, to be achieved by 2030, where the city intelligent will be unavoidably associated. Its relevance, both global and local, justifies that REDE RSO PT, which is deeply involved in the SDGs, brings them to the fore in this Convention», explains the organization.

The strategic alignment between the "smart city", "entrepreneurship" and "social responsibility of organizations (RSO)" in a perspective of smart growth, justify that the proposed reflection for the IX Convention of the RSO PT Network is around this thematic axis , “in which many questions, challenges and opportunities with strategic reach and economic and social relevance are pertinent”.

That is why the organizers of the IX National Convention of the RSO PT Network invite all interested parties to this reflection: municipalities and their associative structures, companies and their associations, the central government and its autonomous institutions, universities and other centers of knowledge, the community and citizens and female citizens.

The organization is the joint responsibility of the Task Force of the RSO PT Network, in particular the AIP Foundation and the Universidade Aberta, as coordinating entities, of the Municipality of Faro, the host municipality of the event, and of NERA (Business Association of the Algarve), by the business community of the Algarve.
