The music show “Segredos de Lucía – Friday Night de Lucía” took place on the 17th of March, at the Municipal Library of Castro Marim, and was sold out. The event's proceeds will help buy a dynamic wheelchair for a girl from Castro Marim.

On stage the “Pedro Jóia Trio”, with Pedro Jóia's guitar, João Frade's accordion and Norton Daiello's double bass, joined “Carmen Benjumea y el Flamenco Universal”, in a flamenco show with Rafael's guitar Martinez de Nerva.

This initiative is inspired by the best known, recognized and sold guitar record, in which Paco de Lucía participates – “Friday Night in San Francisco”.

The event, which was born from the desire to expand and promote the Festival de Lucía and takes place on the 18th and 19th of August this year, will also have an exhibition at the Cineteatro Louletano on the 19th of May, at 21 pm.

This is because one of the goals of the initiative, which is part of the 365 Algarve, is to promote «to the general public the umbilical connection of Paco de Lucía to the Algarve», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

To this is added the purpose of contributing «to a greater enrichment and diversification of the cultural and tourist offer in the region».

Paco de Lucía, born in Algeciras, Andalucia, is recognized as one of the best composers and guitarists in the world. His mother was born in Monte Francisco, in Castro Marim.

«It is in this umbilical connection that the “Festival de Lucía” and the “Segredos de Lucía” are based, honoring a guitar of various languages, crossings and hues, like the one that Paco de Lucía inhabited his audience, but also paying homage to women, through from the memory of his mother, whose joy and Lusitanian countenance always inspired him. This is Paco Português, who dedicated a record to this land “Castro Marin” and to his mother», tells the municipality of Castro Marin.

To help the girl in need of a caring wheelchair, the Castro Marim City Council has associated itself, with the motto “Castro Marim Mais Solidário”, to a mega event, to be held on May 14th, which will allow the raising the final amount of the equipment: «about 12 thousand euros».
